And what a night it was!
A fantastic film from Jennifer Baichwal - an ambitious filmic interpretation of Margaret Atwood's visionary Massey Lectures and book, Payback. And then the local payback... a draw for a fantastic chocolate sculpture by local chocolatier Marc Fournier from La confiserie de Wakefield, presented to the lucky winner of the PAYBACK "It's a sweet deal" draw.

People were entered in the draw if they donated something to the Community Centre - and although there's not going to be another draw, the Centre could still use your help, if you're so inclined...
We were very proud to be able to show the last few films on the brand new screen, thanks to the yeoman's efforts of Rink de Lange. Not only were the films much more attractive to watch, we were also able to project the logos of our many sponsors, to whom we are so grateful!

The party after was a huge hoot. We had some entertainment by way of a short concert from a couple of members of Sax Appeal, the subject of the extremely well-received short film of the same name by Wasim Baobaid. This film, the last of the series of Algonquin Shorts, concerned sax player Jarrod Goldsmith and his indefatigable efforts to establish his sax quartet in the Ottawa music scene.

And finally, great thanks go out to all of those who work in front of house or behind the scenes to make the evenings happen each and every week! That last photo is one of our photographers, Carol, being awarded one of the weekly prize chocolate bars. She's holding a ticket, so I'm sure it wasn't a fix! (btw: we owe our thanks to Adrian for photography, too!)
